  Takapuna Beach Cafe

  I had high expectations when i visited Takapuna Beach Cafe and when i arrived with my friend it was packed full of People and we had to wait for an available table to become free - where upon we were handed a 'Plastic Crab' looking creature which buzzed when a table became free.

  So in the meantime i ordered two Coffee's from the Take Away area unfortunately i was served by a surley looking woman who could'nt have cared less about serving me let alone taking my money which in itself was quite ''off putting'' she failed to tell me that the coffee would be left on the shelf by the machine.... so i automatically thought they would call out my order when it was ready alas 'No' it was just left there for me to find my own way to - where upon i thought my order was forgotten so i decided to go up and ask the ''Surly looking woman'' if my coffee order had been taken, this when she transformed into the ''witch from hell' and looked at me with a venom that could kill you in one strike.... ''are you blind'' she said...!!! it's over there!!!! My God i felt like crawling back into the cave i dared to seek daylight from! Perhaps i should have informed her that i could see perfectly well but then again i was to dumbstruck to answer.

  My Coffee was not Hot but is was enjoyable.

  When our plastic crab buzzed i immediately went to the Tattooed Woman who seemed to be the Front of House Person and told her the ''Crab had Buzzed''.... she was very pleasant and took us to our table and gave us a Menu, my friend and I ordered the same ''Fish of the Day with Hand Cut Chips'' it arrived ten minutes later - it was Hot and enjoyable but more like a 'Childs Portion'... my friend decided to order Chocolate Chip Meringne it came with a sepertate portion of cream in a pot - it was so hard you needed a chisel to break a portion off ...

  when we finally managed to crack a piece away from it's crust we were left with a tasteless sugary not so pleasant morsel of nothingness! we informed our waitress that we couldn't eat it and she quickly took it away and said she would let the Kitchen know. When we came to pay our bill they told us we would still have to pay for the 'Meringne' as we had eaten a portion of it...? i informed her that we had only eaten a portion the size of a thumb nail between the two of us because that was all we managed to break off the ''Crater that was meringne''.... but she said it had been eaten regardless of size and that we had to pay! i continued to protest telling her that i couldn't eat it - but oh no she said we had eaten some of it and we had to pay up! for fear of having ''the witch from hell turn up''... (yes i'm a chicken)... myself and my friend payed up in full and left with a 'very dissatisfied' feeling of being ripped off and also leaving with an empty tummy!... so we decided to grab a Subway on the way home to suffice our hunger.... We have not been back since!

  Come on guy's us customers only require 'Good Quality Food' at a Reasonable Price and Friendly Staff to serve us and at least be pleasant with us... is it so much to ask for?

  What happened to Good Old Fashioned Customer Service????

  Just what Takapuna Ordered

  Takapuna has been begging for a decent cafe for years and finally they have one. Situated at the far end of Takapuna Beach, the Takapuna Beach Cafe serves arguably the best coffee north of the bridge. They also do a mean salad. The wait staff are friendly and extremely efficient given the number of the coffees they pump out. So if you're looking for a place to have an offsite meeting this is definitely a goer. Though best to go outside peak hours as its no secret on the Shore that this is a hot spot.
