  Great food, not so great service

  I went to Gina' s for a family reunion this week and had only heard good things. So I was a little dissapointed to turn up and find every waiter smoking in the entrance. I did however thoroughly enjoy my gnocchi with prawns and scallops in a basil and tomato base - it was delicious and very filling (although not filling enough that I still had room for dessert - Yay!) I shared the tiramisu and warm chocolate brownie pudding and they were both yummy.

  Everyone says the atmosphere is the best thing about Gina's... however, as much as it's nice to see a busy restaurant the tables were very close together and it was hard to hear the person only two seats away from me above the general chat and music.

  No fun this time

  The first time at Gina's in July 10 was very good. I would have given 3-4 stars. Very attentive service and we were all happy with our food, although went for pizzas and no entre or desserts. It may have helped that we were a table of females?

  However, going with family again last night was most disappointing.

  Now situated in a new venue just down the road from previous location, the setting and interior were nice. Although sitting in the long narrow walkway between entry and main restaurant does make you feel a bit on the outer of what's going on.

  It wasn't a particularly busy evening. The service was friendly - although we did feel a bit negected with long waits before attention

  The food was very average to poor. Pizza was good, but fried potatoes (chips) came in very small portion ($6) with no sauces in a bowl just over half full. Very average. Pasta dishes okay - nothing special, Chicken with prawns in white wine garlic sauce sounded great on menu but looked like sloppy cafeteria food. Menu stated accompanied with bread and vegetables. Vegies consisted entirely of over-cooked pieces of roast potato and two tiny pieces of pumpkin (I think) and hard thin slice of plain unattractive bread. ($28)

  First choice of wine unavailable as was the cheescake dessert.

  Poor value for money and quality of food. I wouldn't recommend.

  Slug on pizza

  We booked at Gina for the evening at 7 pm until 8pm (request of Gina staff because busy restaurant he said). I ordered a Regina’s pizza and I received the pizza with « extra slug » in the rocket. I asked the waiter to change this pizza, what he did. Therefore, I got my new pizza with no slug “cool” at 7.40pm. At 7.55pm they put the bill on the table without a word whereas my daughter has even not finished its pizza (note that child menu also included a dessert !!). When we asked for the dessert board the waiter explained us we have to leave for 8pm so we can’t have any dessert. When we explained that the delay was due to the slug problem, he never wanted to receive our request and our dessert command. So, we were obliged to leave the table for the next booking. We then asked the manager for a commercial gesture for all the disagreement. The staff clearly avoided us and we had to wait about 10 min before hearing: “We gave you another pizza so?”

  After paying the bill, we left the restaurant without any remedy and felt under pressure during the entire diner.

  I strongly recommend that you don’t go to Gina’s because they care more to their slugs than to their customers.

  It is hard to go to countown to finish the dinner.
