Restaurants open Easter & ANZAC weekend 2011

There is a special law which comes into force during Easter and ANZAC Day so many businesses and shops will be closed from midnight Thursday 21 April 2011 until 12am Saturday 22 April 2011, and from midnight Saturday 22 April 2011 until 1pm on Monday 25 April 2011.
If you're not one of the thousands going away this holiday weekend, we’ve had a hunt around and found a few Auckland restaurants that will be remaining open to serve you. Please book ahead to avoid disappointment. Opening hours are subject to change and surcharge will probably apply unless otherwise stated.
Waiheke’s Mudbrick Café offering stunning views over the harbour through to Auckland City will be open as usual throughout the long weekend. Fantastic wine on offer with lunch from 11.30-2.30 and dinner from 6pm, and no surcharge on Easter Monday/ANZAC Day.
Eight at Langham Hotel Symonds Street offers a unique buffet-style method of dining where you can browse the cuisine options on display and the chef on hand will cook it for you in the style you desire. With sophisticated dining, Eight is open from 6am-11am, 12noon-2.30pm and 6pm-11pm right throughout the Easter holiday period. It may pay to book ahead.
For absolutely amazing Hong Kong style yum char, there’s no going past Grand Harbour Restaurant in the Viaduct. Grand Harbour will be open as usual throughout the Easter weekend from 11am-3pm and 5.30pm-10pm daily. A surcharge fee applies on the public holidays.
Offering delicious tapas in a cosy environment, La Zeppa in Freeman’s Bay is always warm and inviting with a great laid back vibe. La Zeppa will be closed Easter Sunday and Monday, but open as usual for lunch and dinner on Good Friday and from 3pm on Saturday. No surcharge fee applies.
Lone Star is great for groups, so take along your friends or family for an Easter outing. All Lone Star Restaurants in Auckland will be open for dinner over Easter and there is no surcharge fee. There’s something to suit everyone at Lone Star.
For fine European inspired dining on the waterfront, head to the charming restaurant and bar Euro. Euro will remain open for lunch and dinner during Easter and open from 1pm on ANZAC Day.
For deliciously authentic Italian cuisine in a fine dining environment, Prego in Ponsonby offer everything you desire. Open from 12noon as usual during the Easter Holiday, there will also be a surcharge fee added to your meal on the public holidays. Prego don’t take reservations so it’s best to arrive early for a table.
The Mexican Cafe
Open from 5.00pm for dinner Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the Mexican Café will ensure you have a fun time this Easter. They serve yummy Mexican food from nachos to burritos and tacos. Great for groups or large families. No surcharge fee applies.
