Bloating discomfort solutions
Preventing discomfort
February 2011
Do you have trouble with wind and bloating? Natural Ange has some helpful hints on how best to get your digestive system up and running, without the discomfort.
First things first and it goes without saying, but always eat in a relaxed environment and chew your food well.
To treat bloating, you need to support good digestive functions. I recommend that you start the day by either having a squeeze of lemon or apple cider vinegar in a small amount of water. Sour foods stimulate salivation, digestive enzyme production from the stomach and pancreas, and bile flow from the liver enabling food to be broken down efficiently.
Unfortunately this sour stimulus has been lost from our modern diet. The English began their day with half a grapefruit; the Japanese chewed umeboshi plums and had pickled daikon as a condiment and the Germans have Sauerkraut. We must ensure that these wise traditions are copied in our own diet.
So eat cultured yoghurt rich in acidophilus, or purchase a probiotic powder via your natural health practitioner (Natural Ange Ltd). These reinstate the "friendly" bacteria in the gut, to break food down efficiently.
Chamomile tea has carminative properties to relieve trapped wind. The culinary use of ginger, aniseed and cumin seeds can also aid in the digestive process.
The Natural Ange Herbal Digestive Relief formula is available from my website and is a convenient way to take the herbs mentioned above.
It’s important to point out that some people react to certain foods, e.g. Wheat or milk, and it might be worth considering an allergy test as this may be the cause of the bloating. Read more about the allergy testing we do at the clinic.
