When the weather's a little melancholy there's nothing nicer than popping into a warm, cosy cafe for a hot coffee and a bite to eat. Here are some of our favourite cafes across Auckland....
One 2 One Cafe
This cute and cosy cafe offers an almost country vibe despite being situated on busy Ponsonby Road. Friendly staff, a warm atmosphere and a lovely outdoor court yard. Highly recommended when you need a quiet escape, and great for singleton's too.
Prohibition
If you are after an exciting place to ‘do’ high tea this winter, look no further than Prohibition. Its unique 1920’s theme makes for a marvellous dining experience, and inside the restaurant is warm, cosy and pleasant. Prohibition is also open for lunch Friday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday.
Cafe Melba
There's something special about Ellerslie's Cafe Melba. With a charming environment, super friendly staff, and good selection on the menu, Melba is a fabulous place to hide away from the weather. Perfect for weekend brunch. Also located in the heart of Takapuna and just as good of course.
The Library Cafe Onehunga
This cafe sums up warm and inviting. A beautiful interior, with both a quiet room for reading your paper and a chatty room for catch ups, The Library offers brilliant food options for those seeking a healthy alternative. Lovely.
Frolic Cafe
Frolic is a chic cafe in Greenlane, with tempting options on the menu and fantastic coffee. There's a deck out the back which is undercover, so you can escape the wind and rain all year round. Perfect for kids too, with toys on hand to keep them entertained.
Takapuna Beach Cafe
This busy café has the feel of an old fashioned tea room - indeed they offer a spectacular High Tea on weekday afternoons - as well as a menu that includes great fish and chips and cakes, and one of the city's best brunch selections. Perfect to hide away from the stormy beach weather outside.
The Bay Restaurant & Bar
This popular Waiake restaurant does great steaks and seafood. The Bay has a big indoor fireplace, so it's a perfect spot for an afternoon drink on a cold weekend afternoon.
