The perfect spot when you're in the market for a truly special Valentine's Day gift, a trip to the WORLD Beauty Store on Ponsonby Road is like a voyage into an opulent den of indulgence, where the classic meets the fantastic in the most elegant of ways. The plethora of loveliness on offer is immense, so it's hard to know just where to start.

A great idea is asking advice from the wonderful Mary, who can give you a rundown on what's in stock and is a great help when important decisions need to be made. The perfect destination when special occasion shopping needs to done, they stock the full range of skin and body care by Australian cult brand Aesop, as well as their Marrakech perfume oil - one of my most favourite scents ever.

A cult brand that makes for great giving is the Cire Trudon candle range. Established in 1643 in France, Cire Trudon is the oldest candle maker and wax manufacturer in the business, and design houses like Kenzo, Guerlain, Hermes, and Dior all entrust them with creating their candles.

Another great pick is the Nasomatto perfume range designed by Alessandro Gualtieri - think strong perfumes with crazy ideas that are all unique.  If you've got more of a leaning towards the classics, the store is one of the best stockists I've found of the true legends of the perfume world like YSL's Paris, Joy by Jean Patou, First by Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier Must, 4711 and even the first Boucheron fragrance - the first ever fragrance created by a couture house.
