Valentine’s Gifts For Him

Since I’m a ‘him’ I feel I can talk about – with some confidence – Valentine’s gifts that might appeal to your other half, assuming your other half is also a ‘him’. Of course, contrary to popular belief, we’re not all identical hairy, thoughtless apes; so what suits this hairy, thoughtless ape may not be the perfect gift for your special ‘him’.

Now that I’ve got my disclaimer out of the way here are some things that, if I received them on the most romantic day of the year, would certainly make me happy....


Number one would be a Jielde lamp from Flotsam & Jetsam on Richmond Road, or their new shop at The Department Store in Takapuna; stunning angle-poise, French industrial lighting. These lamps are perfect for his home office or shed, or whatever other little nook he can escape to when he needs a bit of quiet time.

While we’re on the subject of sheds, Kikki K offer some cool-looking storage solutions to keep all those oddments – glue, nails, tools, etc that clutter his man cave to the point where his better half can’t stand going in there – well hidden… Though be careful – he may prefer the clutter if it means he is left undisturbed!

Next up a custom-made, rose gold, ‘Sailor Jerry’-style tattoo ring designed by the ingenious folk at SeventySix Jewellery on New North Road in Eden Terrace is a certain winner; these rings are about as cool and masculine a piece of jewellery you can get without buying knuckledusters and the ‘him’ in your life could not help but be bowled over if he got one this Valentine’s Day.
