Thai Me Up
For authentic Thai in a lively atmosphere, visit Thai Me Up in Ponsonby Road. There's a huge selection to chose from, including great vegetarian options, and I recommended the 'Dragon's Eyes' if you are a seafood fan. A popular spot so book ahead.
St Tropez
For a bit of je ne sais quoi, try French restaurant St Tropez in Parnell who offer up-market authentic French fare. Check out their Two courses for $35 Sunday to Thursday special. Corkage is a little pricey, so be prepared - especially BYO Champagne.
Da Sette Soldi
Da Sette Soldi Italian restaurant has a charming family feeling to it - almost as if you are dining in a living room. It’s cosy, warm and inviting and serves delightful Italian meals including pizza. Great for groups as well as a flirty meal for two.
Saffron Indian Restaurant
Ponsonby's Saffron Indian is a previous Best Indian Restaurant winner, and they still continue to dish out some of the best Indian in Auckland - for a very affordable price. Check out their weekend buffet lunch for something different.
Sushi Factory
If you live or work in the inner city visit Sushi Factory in Vulcan Lane. Little delightful pieces of sushi cruise the conveyor belt in front of you where you can pick and chose your own. Great for grazing, and you may even wish to take along your own little bottle of Sake!
