The first Stirling Sports franchises were awarded in 1983 after Stirling Sports had invested almost 20 years developing the best sports retail Stores in New Zealand. The Stirling Sports group are pioneers of business format franchising in New Zealand under the direction of the group founder and Managing Director, Colin Taylor. In 1993, after 10 years of franchising, many of the first Franchisee's were still in the team and some had been awarded their second Franchise terms.
