Profile
Dida (Croatian for Grandfather) was Josef Jakicevich, who arrived in New Zealand in 1920 with little more than the clothes on his back. Josef went on to establish a greengrocer's business on the corner of Jervois Road and Blake Street that eventually became Glengarry, now the largest independent, family-operated wine retail company in the country.
Dida's Food Store, containing Dida's Kitchen, is the last in a triumvirate of eating and drinking experiences established in and around the original Glengarry wine store. It specialises in authentic and stylish produce, including Dida's own range of jams, chutneys, sauces, dressings, pastas, cookies, coffees and teas.
