Heart of K Road cafe culture
This is an old favourite. We used to go here almost every weekend, when we lived nearby. It's a great way to start a Saturday.

The food and coffee are good and reliable. Aside from standard breakfast items, they have their own special dishes. My own personal favourite is the Smoked Fish Hash (which my wife doesn't like). Coffee goes well with their cakes and biscotti. The staff are relaxed and friendly.

Above all that, the location is unique, being in the atrium of St Kevin's Arcade. It looks great in pictures. While waiting for the food or afterwards, you can check out the fashion stores, including a high-end store (Children of Vision), lots of NZ designers (Misery just moved in!), several vintage stores (including the famous Fast and Loose), a vegan activist store, and a 2nd-hand bookstore (with a discreet porn section - very retro).
